In nonreactive 2-quart saucepan, combine vinegar, water, salt, and garlic; heat to boiling over high heat. In each hot jar, place 1 dill sprig and 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper. Pack green beans tightly into jars. Discard garlic and immediately ladle in simmering liquid to 1/4 within inch of tops. (Keep liquid simmering while filling jars.) Wipe jar rims and threads clean; cover quickly with lids and screw bands on securely but not too tightly. Process jars in boiling water bath 10 minutes; cool and test for airtight seal.
