Honey Granola Breakfast Bars Recipe

Instead of eating overly sweet and high-fat store-bought granola bars, we highly recommend making your own. These are quickly mixed in one bowl. Prep : 15 minutes Bake : 30 minutes
  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats, uncooked
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/cup packed light brown sugar
  • 3/cup dark seedless raisins
  • 1/2 cup toasted wheat germ
  • 3/teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease 13" by 9" baking pan.
  2. In large bowl, with wooden spoon, stir oats, flour, brown sugar, raisins, wheat germ, cinnamon, and salt until blended. Stir in oil, honey, egg, and vanilla until well combined. With wet hand, pat oat mixture evenly onto bottom of prepared pan.
  3. Bake until light golden around edges, 30 to 35 minutes. Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
  4. When cool, cut lengthwise into 4 strips, then cut each strip crosswise into 4 pieces. Makes 16 bars.
Each bar : About 242 calories, 4g protein, 39g carbohydrate, 9g total fat (1g saturated), 13mg cholesterol, 119mg sodium.

CONFECTIONERS’ SUGAR

Confectioners’ sugar is a blend of very finely ground sugar and some cornstarch to prevent lumps. The addition of cornstarch notwithstanding, confectioners’ sugar often contains small lumps.
